Poisons or Toxins
If your pet is sick and may have ingested something toxic or poisonous, call CPVC or one of the above emergency clinics first.
We/they may direct you to call poison control, but speak to a veterinary team member first so they can help you decide if you need to bring your pet in right away.
If you bring your pet to us or to an emergency clinic, bring samples or packaging of any products your pet may have ingested
(photos or pieces of mushrooms or plants, photos or sample of vomitus if it contains something suspicious, packaging for household products, etc).
If you want to check to see if something ingested is toxic or poisonous, but your pet is not showing symptoms,
call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control at (888) 426-4435 (fees apply)
or go to their website at https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control
For some toxins, by the time symptoms appear, the damage may be done.
Please call a veterinary clinic or ASPCA animal poison control if you have any suspicion that your pet may have been exposed to something toxic.
